Though Reese Witherspoon was born in Batton Rouge, Louisiana, she lived in Wiesbaden, Germany as an Army bratt for her first four years. Her family settled in Nashville, Tennessee, and she began modeling at the age of 7. She postponed her education at Stanford, where she was majoring in English Lit, when she accepted a role in Fear, then Freeway, both in 1996. Her acting career underway, she went on to more prominant roles in Pleasantville in 1998, and a harrowing remake of Dangerous Liaisons, calledCruel Intentions in 1999. Soon, the huge success of Legally Blond in 2001 rocketted her to true Diva status. Meanwhile, she married Ryan Philips in 1999 and they have had two children. A storybook romance of sorts, she met Philips at her 21st birthday party and they subsequently worked together in the intervening years before their marraige. Her growing success, diverse talent and hard work have lead her to an Oscar nomination for her role as June Carter Cash in Walk the Line. Perhaps she will never finish her degree in English Lit, perhaps she will. But few would question her carreer decisions at this point. She currently gets $15,000,000 per film!
